Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Hazel of the Rootbloom to lead a hybrid strategy centered on Food tokens, lifegain drain, and +1/+1 counters. Early turns focus on establishing artifact tokens with enablers like Gilded Goose and Tireless Provisioner. Once Hazel hits the battlefield on Turn 4, she copies tokens each end step and taps them for flexible mana acceleration. The midgame converts this resource advantage into pressure using drain engines such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Marauding Blight-Priest, and Enduring Tenacity, or tall combat threats like Ygra, Eater of All. Damage doublers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Wound Reflection accelerate the clock, closing out the table around Turn 8. The list features strong internal synergy and resilient backup token generators, though its low land count and reliance on permanent-heavy boards leave it vulnerable to mass removal.
