Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Aristocrats and Landfall deck led by Sméagol, Helpful Guide. The main game plan revolves around sacrificing recursive creatures like Bloodghast and Reassembling Skeleton to trigger Sméagol's Ring-tempting ability, which consistently steals lands from opponents' libraries directly onto the battlefield. This surge of extra lands powers explosive landfall engines such as Scute Swarm, Rampaging Baloths, and Avenger of Zendikar. Meanwhile, a dedicated package of nine Nazgûl grows rapidly with each Ring trigger, delivering lethal combat pressure alongside Mirkwood Bats and Syr Konrad, the Grim life drain. Graveyard recursion cards like Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Chthonian Nightmare, and Rise of the Dark Realms ensure long-term resilience against sweepers, allowing the deck to out-value the table and close games around Turn 8.
