Deck overview

This Gruul deck uses Xenagos, God of Revels to execute an aggressive stompy strategy. The game plan accelerates mana on early turns with cheap land ramp and cost reducers. On Turn 4, it casts Xenagos, who sits safely on the battlefield as an indestructible enchantment. Starting on Turn 5, the deck deploys massive trampling creatures like Elder Gargaroth, Quartzwood Crasher, and Railway Brawler. At the beginning of combat, Xenagos doubles their power and gives them haste, allowing them to attack immediately for massive damage. Additional combat phases from Bloodthirster and Karlach, Fury of Avernus, combined with power doublers like Unnatural Growth, quickly eliminate opponents one by one. The deck refills its hand using burst draw spells that scale with creature power, such as Rishkar's Expertise and Return of the Wildspeaker. Efficient protection spells like Deflecting Swat and Heroic Intervention shield threats from interaction, leading to a reliable table knockout by Turn 7.
