Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses The Serpent Society to turn combat trades and sacrifice outlets into a punishing attrition engine. By combining deathtouch creatures with wide token generators, every creature death forces opponents to sacrifice their own valuable nontoken creatures. Early turns establish mana dorks, small deathtouch threats, and poison counters via Fynn, the Fangbearer and toxic creatures. In the midgame, token generators like Blight Mound, Gothmog, Morgul Lieutenant, and The Swarmweaver turn swarms into lethal deathtouch armies. Payoffs like Mirkwood Bats, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, and proliferate spells steadily wear down opposing life totals and poison thresholds. The deck controls the board using premier Golgari removal such as Assassin's Trophy, Culling Ritual, and Toxic Deluge. While it lacks instant-speed stack countermagic and fast combo finishes, its layered attrition, commander ward tax, and redundant token engines create overwhelming board control and close games reliably by Turn 8.
