Deck overview

Meren of Clan Nel Toth commands a classic Golgari Aristocrats and Reanimator strategy that blends progressive attrition with compact creature combo finishes. The early game focuses on deploying low-mana utility creatures, ramping into basic lands, and stocking the graveyard using self-mill and sacrifice enablers. Once Meren enters on Turn 4, the deck establishes a recurring engine, accumulating experience counters to return creatures directly to the battlefield each end step. It suppresses opposing boards through recurring edict effects like Plaguecrafter and asymmetric death triggers from Butcher of Malakir. When ready to close the game on Turn 6, the deck leverages potent tutors like Buried Alive and Victimize to assemble an infinite persist loop featuring Putrid Goblin, Melira, Sylvok Outcast, and a drain outlet such as Blood Artist or mill outlet Altar of Dementia. This creates an immediate same-turn table elimination while maintaining independent backup lines through manual reanimation.
