Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Treasure-and-ping engine built around Smaug the Impenetrable. The 7-mana commander is an indestructible, hasty 8/7 flyer that converts every point of noncombat damage into Treasure tokens, so the deck's core loop is "damage your own dragon, flood the board with artifacts, cash them out." Primary wins come from layered Treasure drains (Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, Marionette Apprentice, Mayhem Devil), artifact-ETB burn (Reckless Fireweaver, Ingenious Artillerist, Weftstalker Ardent), and classic damage-reflection combos with Blazing Sunsteel, Brash Taunter, and Pain for All. Magda, Brazen Outlaw and the three other Smaug cards supply backup Dragon/artifact lines, while Exsanguinate, Hellkite Tyrant, and raw commander damage close games that go long. The deck plays as a midrange combo deck that ramps, resolves Smaug, then detonates a single damage spell into a lethal Treasure storm.
