Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control strategy designed around Horobi, Death's Wail. By leveraging normally innocuous targeting artifacts and abilities—such as Baton of Morale, Hex Parasite, and Belbe's Armor—the deck turns any targeting action into an efficient, instant-speed creature kill. Once Horobi is deployed on Turn 5, opposing creature-based board states are systematically suppressed. The deck backs up this attrition with high-impact mono-black finishers, including Massacre Wurm, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and planeswalkers like Sorin Markov and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Because Horobi's ability is strictly symmetrical, the commander is inherently fragile to opposing targeted abilities, and standard equipment or auras cannot be used to protect it. Victory is achieved by locking down creature combat and gradually eliminating opponents over prolonged turn cycles.
