Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain Voltron and midrange attrition strategy commanded by Karlov of the Ghost Council. The core game plan focuses on casting Karlov on Turn 2 and immediately following up with redundant, low-cost lifegain triggers like Authority of the Consuls, Hinterland Sanctifier, and Creeping Bloodsucker. Each lifegain event places two +1/+1 counters on Karlov, rapidly scaling him into a lethal commander damage threat while stocking counters to fuel his repeatable instant-speed creature exile ability. The deck transitions into the midgame by supplementing combat pressure with potent midrange anchors such as Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Archangel of Thune, and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, backed by efficient spot removal, board wipes like Farewell and Damn, and disruptive elements like Grand Abolisher and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Because it lacks infinite combos, the deck closes games through relentless single-target eliminations and symmetrical life drain.
