Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs an explosive lifegain combo finish with a resilient creature-swarm midgame. Led by Blech, Loafing Pest, the deck converts lifegain triggers from cards like Essence Warden and Prosperous Innkeeper into +1/+1 counters across typal creatures, including Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. Accelerated by premier mana rocks such as Mana Vault, Chrome Mox, and Sol Ring, the deck races to assemble its primary win condition: the infinite drain combo of Exquisite Blood paired with Dina, Soul Steeper, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Starscape Cleric. Potent card draw engines like Necropotence, The One Ring, and Skullclamp dig rapidly toward combo pieces and protection like Veil of Summer. If the primary combo is disrupted, the deck pivots smoothly into token generation and counter-driven combat damage with Scute Swarm, Iridescent Hornbeetle, and Bolas's Citadel.
