Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Izzet combo-control strategy commanded by The Locust God, designed to convert card draw into overwhelming board presence and direct damage. The game plan focuses on early ramp and hand sculpting, advancing toward deploying the 6-mana commander on Turn 5. Once The Locust God is established, the deck pivots into game-ending velocity using draw multipliers, wheels like Windfall, and synergistic combo pieces such as Sage of the Falls. Resolving Sage of the Falls creates a self-perpetuating draw-and-discard loop that generates dozens of 1/1 flying hasty Insect tokens, which immediately overwhelm the table through combat or trigger lethal burn via Purphoros, God of the Forge and Impact Tremors. A robust suite of low-cost counterspells and targeted phasing protects the engine during its critical execution window, while backup win lines like Niv-Mizzet, Parun paired with Curiosity ensure lethal inevitability even if the commander is contested.
