Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, Lord of the Rings

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Grixis Ring-tempt reanimator deck built around Sauron, Lord of the Rings. The plan is to ramp, fill the graveyard with lootings and self-mill, then cast the 7-mana commander to amass a 5/5+ Orc Army, mill five, and reanimate a haymaker such as Inferno Titan, Knollspine Dragon, or Scourge of the Throne. From there the deck plays a midrange combat game: grow the Army with amass payoffs like Saruman, the White Hand, Warg Rider, and Mauhur, Uruk-hai Captain, then ride trampling damage, extra combat, and the Nazgul Battle-Mace annihilator to close out. Secondary lines include mass reanimation via Living Death, a Wraith swarm from Lord of the Nazgul, and a graveyard-fueled drain from One Ring to Rule Them All. The commander is the engine, but Sauron, the Dark Lord acts as a hidden pseudo-wheel in the 99.
