Deck overview

This Abzan list is a legendary-matters +1/+1 counter deck. Yoshimaru is the growth engine and final attacker; every other legendary permanent in the deck, from lands to creatures to enchantments, increases its counters. Reyhan is the cushion and redirect engine, keeping counters alive through deaths and command-zone trips. The primary path is to amplify every counter event with Hardened Scales, Corpsejack Menace, and their equivalents, then explode with a huge board. The secondary path is a token avalanche from Ghave, Cathars' Crusade, and Elspeth. The hidden commander of the list is Ghave, Guru of Spores: he is a self-contained counter source, token generator, and sacrifice outlet that can consolidate the whole plan. The deck is built to use both partner commanders together.
