Deck overview

Szarel, Genesis Shepherd leads a Jund Lands deck focused on turning land sacrifices, self-mill, and graveyard recursion into overwhelming board advantage. The deck accelerates in the opening turns with dense 1–2 CMC ramp before deploying Szarel on Turn 4 to unlock continuous land plays from the graveyard. Sacrificing fetchlands, utility lands, and nontoken permanents triggers Szarel to distribute substantial +1/+1 counters onto key attackers while triggering cards like Titania, Protector of Argoth, Mayhem Devil, and The Gitrog Monster. Mid-to-late turns focus on explosive mass-landfall turns powered by Splendid Reclamation, Aftermath Analyst, or Nahiri's Lithoforming, flooding the board with Elementals and Insects or generating extra combat phases with Moraug, Fury of Akoum. Highly resilient to conventional resource attrition, the deck leverages its graveyard as a second library to grind out opponents and finish the table in a single overwhelming combat or direct-damage turn.
