Deck overview

This mono-black deck blends an aristocrats sacrifice engine with a dedicated Liliana planeswalker control theme led by Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. In the early turns, it establishes disposable fodder and token generators such as Ophiomancer and Bastion of Remembrance. Once Yawgmoth enters on Turn 4, it leverages this fodder into massive card advantage and board suppression through -1/-1 counters and proliferation. From Turn 6 onward, the deck establishes dominant board control through asymmetric sacrifice effects like Grave Pact and ultimate planeswalker abilities charged up by proliferation and The Chain Veil. Win conditions stem from grinding aristocrat drain, explosive life loss via Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Bloodletter of Aclazotz, or game-ending mass recursion with Living Death. While creature boards struggle against its relentless removal, the deck remains vulnerable to noncreature permanents and lacks stack interaction.
