Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov blink and midrange strategy commanded by Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar. It combines low-cost creatures with enter-the-battlefield abilities, repeatable end-step blink engines, and aristocrat-style life drain. Early turns focus on deploying efficient creatures like Spirited Companion, Helpful Hunter, and Soul Warden to smooth land drops and build life buffer. By Turn 4, engines like Teleportation Circle and Far Traveler begin cycling creatures, drawing extra cards and growing Syr Vondam with +1/+1 counters. Mid-game scaling comes from Cathars' Crusade, Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines, and Bolas's Citadel, which turn flickered boards into overwhelming board states while Corpse Knight drains opposing life totals. Robust protection spells such as Flawless Maneuver, Flare of Fortitude, and Eerie Interlude shield the board from sweepers, allowing the deck to close out games through evasive combat damage and life loss by Turn 8.
