Deck overview

Avacyn, Angel of Horror commands an attrition-heavy Mono-Black Aristocrats deck designed to dominate the board through repeatable sacrifice loops, heavy devotion mana, and lethal table-wide drain. The deck rapidly accelerates using artifacts and mono-black mana doublers like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast. Once assembled on Turn 4, it establishes continuous card flow through Grim Haruspex and Braids, Arisen Nightmare while controlling opposing creature boards with Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern. Critical onset arrives on Turn 5 by reanimating or casting massive payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star, or Avacyn herself. With Avacyn returning dead nontoken creatures at every end step, sacrificing Kokusho or Gary on each player's turn drains all opponents out of the game over two response cycles by Turn 7. The deck boasts extraordinary resilience and redundant reanimation, operating with complete independence from its high-cost commander.
