Format: Commander

Commander: Karlov of the Ghost Council

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

An Orzhov lifegain deck built to turn every incidental life gain into a growing Karlov of the Ghost Council and then swing for commander damage. Early Soul Warden/Ajani's Welcome triggers make Karlov a large threat, while the equipment package gives haste, hexproof, double strike, and evasion. The backup plan is a drain constellation: Blood Artist, Cruel Celebrant, Elas il-Kor, and Vito convert lifegain into opponent life loss, with Aetherflux Reservoir and Debt to the Deathless as late-game burst. Karlov's activated exile acts as repeatable spot removal for blockers or combo creatures. The deck is tempo-oriented and relatively light on stack interaction; it wants to deploy a resilient commander and protect a single combat path.
