Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Spellslinger Voltron build led by Speedball, New Warrior. Speedball turns cheap targeting cantrips like Crimson Wisps and Shadow Rift into instant +2/+2 buffs while cycling cards into your hand. His built-in redirect ability naturally deflects opposing single-target removal spells toward other targets. The game plan focuses on deploying early card draw engines such as Curiosity and Combat Research, then chaining multiple 1-mana cantrips into lethal combat multipliers like Psychotic Fury, Bulk Up, and Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar. Protective phasing effects like Vanishing and Slip Out the Back shield your commander from board wipes, while a deep suite of counterspells and bounce effects disrupts opposing game plans. In the late game, the deck can also close out stalled boards via token swarms, Caldera Pyremaw burn triggers, or a Dualcaster Mage and Sublime Epiphany token loop.
