Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control and big mana strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Terror Eater. It controls early game pacing through efficient sacrifice effects and targeted removal, using cards like Plaguecrafter, Accursed Marauder, and Sheoldred's Edict to clear opposing boards while advancing its own resource base. Mana doublers including Crypt Ghast, Cabal Coffers, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth accelerate the deck into overwhelming late-game plays. The deck achieves card advantage through powerhouses like Necropotence, Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools. It closes the game by draining the table with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or a massive Exsanguinate, or by resolving Valgavoth, Terror Eater to lock down opposing graveyards and turn opponents' cards against them. The deck boasts exceptional redundancy and recovery, operating smoothly even without casting its 9-mana commander.
