Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black stax and combo strategy built around Maralen of the Mornsong. Its primary game plan establishes an oppressive lockout by combining Maralen with Opposition Agent on Turn 4. Maralen stops all players from drawing cards, replacing their draw steps with a library search and 3 life loss. With Opposition Agent on your battlefield, you control opposing searches and exile their best cards for your own use. This denies your opponents any card flow while dealing steady life loss. Once the lock is active, Maralen's draw step allows you to tutor Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond on consecutive turns. Combining these two enchantments creates an infinite life-drain loop that eliminates all opponents on Turn 6. The deck supports this core with creature removal, discard spells, and secondary lock pieces like Mornsong Aria and Painful Quandary. Its main vulnerabilities are resolved noncreature permanents and targeted creature removal.
