Deck overview

This Sultai deck is an Elf tribal and graveyard synergy strategy commanded by Thranduil, the Elvenking. The primary plan leverages low-cost mana dorks and ramp spells to establish a wide mana base, while using self-mill and entomb effects like Buried Alive to load the graveyard with versatile Elf abilities. Once Thranduil enters the battlefield, he inherits activated abilities from Elves in the graveyard, notably pairing Timberwatch Elf's scaling power buff with Devoted Druid's untap mechanic to generate massive attackers. In parallel, the deck runs a robust +1/+1 counter engine featuring Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, and Emil, Vastlands Roamer to give the entire army trample and evasion. Interactive countermagic protects key execution windows, while multiple graveyard recursion spells ensure the deck can rebuild after sweepers. Even without the commander, standalone Elf lords and mana scaling provide an independent combat route to victory.
