Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Grixis deck is built around Sauron, the Dark Lord as a draw engine and Army enabler. The primary plan is to amass Orcs, stack the single Army with counter triggers, then send it through with trample, menace, or Rogue's Passage; each successful hit tempts the Ring and replaces the hand with four cards. Secondary paths include Lord of the Nazgul Wraiths, Living Death reanimation, and the In the Darkness Bind Them saga. There is no hidden commander or double-faced commander; the alternative Sauron and Saruman legends are value pieces. The deck wins by repeated large combat steps rather than combo, with the commander as the main refueling engine.
