Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Selesnya Voltron aggro deck built entirely around Sergeant John Benton. The strategy uses dense 1-mana ramp to deploy Benton on Turn 2. Because Benton has haste and trample, it attacks immediately, utilizing cheap pump spells like Invigorate, Giant Growth, and Embiggen to deal combat damage and draw massive handfuls of cards. That explosive card velocity refills the hand with a critical mass of 1-mana protection spells, extra land droppers, and lethal damage multipliers like Empyrial Armor, Duelist's Heritage, and Show of Confidence. By Turn 3, Benton threatens to eliminate one player per turn with lethal commander damage while holding multiple defensive responses to shield against removal. The deck trades away interactive stack control and backup win conditions to achieve extreme speed, compact single-target lethality, and near-limitless hand replenishment.
