Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Azorius midrange token strategy commanded by Bard, King of Dale. The game plan centers on using the commander's replacement effects to double all non-first card draws and all token creation. Early turns establish a reliable mana base and deploy low-cost draw engines like Faerie Mastermind or token producers like Prince Imrahil the Fair. Once the commander enters on turn 5, every subsequent action produces explosive value. Token spells create massive swarms of flying or lifelinking creatures, while card draw effects rapidly refill the hand with protection and interaction. The deck transitions into lethal combat on turns 6 and 7 using anthems like Intangible Virtue, overrun effects like Moonshaker Cavalry, or flying evasion from Toby, Beastie Befriender. Defensively, the list relies on efficient white removal, targeted countermagic, and instant-speed indestructible spells to protect its developing army.
