Saheeli, Thopters for Days by Spades

Format: Commander

Commander: Saheeli, Jewel of Avishkar

Bracket: 2

DeckCheck Threat Index: 30

Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet artifact and spellslinger engine led by Saheeli, Jewel of Avishkar. The game plan centers on resolving Saheeli on Turn 4 and chaining low-cost noncreature spells to generate a swarm of 1/1 flying Thopters with haste. Card draw engines like Thopter Spy Network, Tezzeret, Artifice Master, and Vulture, Feathered Fiend convert flying combat damage into steady card advantage, keeping your hand full of cheap interaction and cantrips. Redundant token engines such as Sai, Master Thopterist and Chrome Host Seedshark provide resilience if the commander is removed. The deck closes out games around Turns 7 and 8 by overrunning opponents with Craterclaw Colossus or stacking prowess-style buffs with Balmor, Battlemage Captain. A package of cheap counterspells, bounce spells, and single-target disabling auras protects your board while neutralizing major opposing threats.
