Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu aggro and mana-cheating strategy built around Kaalia of the Vast. The core objective is deploying Kaalia on turn 3 or 4 using early artifact ramp, then immediately attacking to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Archfiend of Depravity apply immediate combat damage, board control, and asymmetric creature attrition. Because the deck cheats high-mana threats without paying their costs, it can generate significant early board presence. However, the list is heavily reliant on Kaalia surviving to attack. With minimal protection spells and no low-cost tutors, targeted removal aimed at Kaalia before combat severely slows down development. The deck must then pivot to hardcasting expensive threats on curve, making it vulnerable to sweepers and sustained interaction over multi-turn combat clocks.
