Deck overview

This Abzan deck focuses on converting lifegain into massive +1/+1 counters, board resilience, and direct life drain. Commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice, the deck accelerates during early turns using low-cost mana dorks and rocks to deploy early lifegain enablers like Soul Warden, Voice of the Blessed, and Serra Ascendant. Once Betor enters on Turn 4, every point of life gained places matching +1/+1 counters on attacking threats while recovering lost creatures from the graveyard. Counter doublers like Branching Evolution and Corpsejack Menace scale the board into an insurmountable combat threat by Turn 5. The list also features a lethal drain package with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sanguine Bond, and Bloodthirsty Conqueror, capable of closing games through life loss. Robust instant-speed removal and proactive protection spells like Teferi's Protection and Flare of Fortitude ensure the deck can defend its growing creatures against opposing disruption.
