Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius tap-control and stax-midrange strategy commanded by Hylda of the Icy Crown. Its game plan revolves around turning tap and freeze effects into significant board presence and resource advantage. In the early turns, the deck deploys efficient mana rocks and asymmetric stax pieces like Drannith Magistrate, Lavinia, Azorius Renegade, and Eidolon of Rhetoric to slow opposing development. Once Hylda enters the battlefield on Turn 4, every tap effect triggers her ability to generate 4/4 Elemental tokens, buff the team with +1/+1 counters, or draw cards. Heavy stun-counter synergies from cards like Fear of Sleep Paralysis and Freeze in Place keep opposing threats permanently immobilized. The deck closes games around Turn 7 via overwhelming, unblockable combat damage or by establishing hard locks with Opposition or Knowledge Pool. Premium free countermagic and protection spells ensure the engine stays resilient against opposing disruption.
