Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Gruul stompy strategy commanded by Nikya of the Old Ways. It is built almost exclusively with permanents, containing 62 creatures, 34 lands, and a single noncreature spell: Primal Surge. Early turns focus on deploying efficient mana dorks like Birds of Paradise and Fanatic of Rhonas to cast Nikya by Turn 4. Once active, Nikya doubles all land mana, allowing the pilot to cast massive threats ahead of curve. Turn 5 unleashes explosive board states via Apex Devastator, Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant, or Etali, Primal Conqueror, supported by card draw engines such as Beast Whisperer. The deck leverages asymmetric creature stax pieces like Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger to suppress opponents before finishing the game on Turn 6 with overwhelming trample combat damage through Craterhoof Behemoth or Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus.
