Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Simic tribal strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. It curves out with efficient Merfolk creatures during the first three turns before resolving Hakbal to trigger immediate explore abilities across the entire team at combat. Hakbal's explore triggers fuel a self-sustaining engine that simultaneously grows creature power with +1/+1 counters and fills the hand with lands, while Hakbal's attack trigger accelerates those lands straight onto the battlefield. The deck wins primarily through overwhelming combat damage, leveraging unblockability from Herald of Secret Streams, Deepchannel Mentor, or Islandwalk lords like Lord of Atlantis alongside lethal overruns from Craterhoof Behemoth or Triumph of the Hordes. A suite of efficient counterspells and anti-wipe protection spells like Heroic Intervention and Ripples of Potential shields the wide board, allowing the deck to outgrind opponents and close games swiftly.
