Deck overview

Alania, Divergent Storm leads a synergistic Izzet spellslinger deck centered on Otters and spell duplication. The deck uses a high land density and low-cost rocks to deploy Alania on Turn 5. Once on the battlefield, Alania duplicates the first instant, sorcery, or Otter spell cast each turn by offering an opponent a card. This engine fuels rapid token generation through Stormsplitter, massive unblockable prowess attacks via Bria, Riptide Rogue, and direct burn with cards like Coruscation Mage and Boltwave. The deck operates on a fair spellslinger clock, initiating critical pressure on Turn 6 and closing the table on Turn 8 across two opponent response cycles. Its interaction suite relies on burn-based removal and countermagic like Counterflux, while its main weaknesses include heavy reliance on creature permanents, lack of unconditional tutors, and giving opponents free cards through Alania's triggered ability.
