Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Jenova, Ancient Calamity, functioning as an Aristocrats engine and combo shell. The strategy revolves around generating disposable creature tokens, mutating them with +1/+1 counters during combat via Jenova's triggered ability, and sacrificing them to draw cards equal to their power. This velocity fuels both an asymmetric stax/attrition plan and a fast burst finish. The deck leverages heavy board control through Dictate of Erebos, Braids, Cabal Minion, and recurring edict creatures like Plaguecrafter to strip opposing resources. Victory is achieved through explosive multi-card combinations: an infinite persist loop utilizing Melira, Sylvok Outcast, Putrid Goblin, a sacrifice outlet, and Blood Artist, or an instant 40-damage table fling with Wall of Blood and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. While the deck features robust recursion and card draw, its primary vulnerability lies in its lack of stack protection, leaving key combo turns susceptible to instant-speed creature removal and graveyard hate.
