Deck overview

This mono-black deck blends lethal aristocrat combo lines with the unique board-control engine of Horobi, Death's Wail. Horobi transforms any targeting spell or ability into instant creature removal, allowing cheap utility creatures like Fume Spitter and repeatable abilities like Grim Hireling to clear opposing creatures with ease. Beneath this control shell sits a fast, tutor-heavy combo engine focused on Warren Soultrader, Gravecrawler, and drain outlets like Blood Artist or Ayara, First of Locthwain. With high-impact card draw from Necropotence, Ad Nauseam, and Bolas's Citadel, alongside explosive mana rituals, the deck rapidly digs for missing pieces. It consistently threatens an infinite drain finish around Turn 4. Extensive reanimation spells give the deck strong resilience against targeted removal, though it remains vulnerable to instant-speed graveyard hate and artifact-heavy strategies.
