Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Zask, Skittering Swarmlord to turn the graveyard into an active second hand for Insect creatures and lands. The deck establishes early mana acceleration and consistent self-mill through cards like Crawling Infestation, Ripples of Undeath, and Old Rutstein. Once Zask enters the battlefield on Turn 5, it unlocks recursive loops by replaying utility Insects and fetching lands from the graveyard while constantly filling the yard upon Insect deaths. The deck transitions into a lethal win condition on Turn 6 by generating an overwhelming army of tokens with Scute Swarm, Ant Queen, or Amzu, Swarm's Hunger, boosted to lethal numbers with Coat of Arms, Door of Destinies, or Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. Robust asymmetric removal such as Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and recurring Strip Mine denies opposing boards while protecting your own development.
