Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Avacyn, Angel of Horror as a relentless attrition engine. The strategy focuses on accelerating mana rapidly with dark rituals, mana doublers, and Cabal Coffers to cast an 8-mana commander on Turn 6. Once Avacyn enters the battlefield, any nontoken sacrifice creature such as Fleshbag Marauder or Plaguecrafter triggers at the beginning of every single end step across the table. This repeatedly forces opponents to sacrifice creatures and discard cards while your own creatures return to the battlefield continuously. The engine quickly suffocates opposing boards and converts the resulting death triggers into massive card advantage and life drain through cards like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. The deck features exceptional creature removal and resilience against destruction, though it must navigate vulnerability to exile removal and counterspells.
