Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Voltron Attrition strategy commanded by Skullbriar, the Walking Grave. The core game plan revolves around casting Skullbriar on Turn 2 with haste, consistently connecting in combat to accumulate +1/+1 counters that persist across graveyard and command zones. The surrounding 99 is heavily configured to break parity on creature attrition, fielding dense suites of edict creatures such as Accursed Marauder and Plaguecrafter, group discard spells like Syphon Mind, and repeatable pestilence board wipes including Withering Wisps and Crypt Rats. Because Skullbriar retains its counters when dying or simply outgrows small sweepers, it continues applying pressure while opposing boards and hands remain depleted. The deck operates strictly on curve with a high land count of 43 lands and minimal fast ramp, grinding down opponents before finishing them individually via commander damage or burst spells like Invigorating Surge and Tainted Strike. Its chief vulnerabilities include bounce spells, -1/-1 counter effects, and zero stack protection.
