Deck overview

This Rakdos deck centers on Smaug the Impenetrable, an indestructible 8/7 Dragon with haste that generates Treasure tokens whenever it takes noncombat damage. The game plan focuses on accelerating mana during the early turns with artifacts and Treasure-generating spells, deploying Smaug on Turn 5, and triggering massive noncombat damage waves on Turn 6 using cards like Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, Cut Propulsion, or Chain Lightning. These spells wipe opposing boards while showering the pilot in Treasures, which are immediately channeled into table-wide burn spells such as Comet Storm or artifact-drain triggers from Mirkwood Bats and Reckless Fireweaver. If Smaug is removed, the deck easily pivots to alternative damage redirectors like Wrathful Red Dragon and Brash Taunter. With redundant creature sweepers and high burst lethality, the deck reliably closes games on Turn 7.
