Deck overview

This is a Simic Merfolk tribal deck helmed by Hakbal of the Surging Soul, built around the explore mechanic as its engine. The primary plan is to flood the board with cheap Merfolk, use Hakbal's combat explore triggers to grow them with +1/+1 counters while hitting land drops, then make the team unblockable via Herald of Secret Streams, islandwalk lords, and Rogue's Passage before swinging for lethal, amplified by Unnatural Growth. The deck is a midrange value engine with a deep card-draw suite (Kindred Discovery, Tatyova, Benthic Druid, Seafloor Oracle, Attuma, Atlantean Warlord) and a robust counter-doubling package (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Growth Curve). Secondary wins include Simic Ascendancy and a big flying Namor the Sub-Mariner. It has no infinite combos and no real tutor suite, relying on natural draws and incremental board growth.
