Deck overview

This Golgari deck operates as an aristocrats and counters engine commanded by Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. The primary strategy focuses on deploying low-cost mana ramp and resilient creature fodder in the early turns, establishing a sacrifice outlet, and casting Mazirek on Turn 4. Once Mazirek is active, sacrificing creatures, fetchlands, and tokens distributes +1/+1 counters across your entire board. The deck rapidly transforms small mana elves and tokens into formidable combat threats while simultaneously draining opponents with Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Mirkwood Bats. Asymmetric sacrifice engines like Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos dismantle opposing creature boards while supercharging your own creatures through Mazirek's ability. While the deck lacks fast tutors and direct stack interaction, it features robust redundancy among sacrifice outlets, recursive creatures, and removal spells. It reliably closes games between Turns 6 and 7 through massive combat swings and compounding aristocrat life drain.
