Vilis Dealer of Life by Buddadragon

Format: Commander

Commander: Vilis, Broker of Blood

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black "Life as a Resource" engine helmed by Vilis, Broker of Blood. The strategy centers on leveraging Vilis s ability to draw cards whenever life is lost, turning self-inflicted damage and life-payment costs into massive card advantage. The deck utilizes a Demon tribal subtheme to provide a high-power aerial threat, using the commander as both a removal piece and a draw engine. The primary win conditions involve draining opponents through Exsanguinate or Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or utilizing Repay in Kind after intentionally lowering your life total to near-zero. While the deck possesses significant late-game inevitability and card flow, it is heavily reliant on its 8-mana commander to bridge the gap between "paying life" and "winning the game." It plays as a mid-to-late game control/combo-lite deck that seeks to stabilize with lifelink and board wipes before exploding in a single turn of massive card draw.
