Deck overview

This deck is a monoblack control strategy centered on Maha, Its Feathers Night. Maha sets the base toughness of all opposing creatures to one. This static ability turns every small -1/-1 counter, global debuff, and damage ping into an immediate kill. The deck operates by developing mana in the opening turns, deploying Maha on turn five, and immediately wiping or locking the battlefield with cards like Night of Souls' Betrayal, Malicious Eclipse, or Pestilence Demon. With opposing creature boards suppressed, Maha attacks with flying and trample to eliminate players through commander damage. Secondary threats like Massacre Wurm, Rottenmouth Viper, and a large Exsanguinate powered by Cabal Coffers accelerate the clock. The list protects its commander using built-in ward alongside cheap instant recursion spells like Feign Death and Malakir Rebirth. While exceptionally strong against creature-centric decks, it relies on natural draws to find noncreature answers and its static lock pieces.
