Commander: Ob Nixilis, Unshackled

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black search-hate/control deck built around Ob Nixilis, Unshackled and his ability to punish every opponent library search. The primary plan is to assemble a soft lock with Maralen of the Mornsong or Mornsong Aria: opponents cannot draw cards, and their draw-step searches each trigger Ob for 10 life and a sacrificed creature. A dense tutor package-Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Grim Tutor, Diabolic Intent, Wishclaw Talisman, and others-finds both halves of the lock and the big-mana pieces such as Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nirkana Revenant. Finishers are Exsanguinate and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, with Archfiend of Despair, Sower of Discord, and Bloodletter of Aclazotz multiplying life loss. The deck is commander-centric: without Ob on board, Maralen-type effects become actively harmful to its own strategy.
