Deck overview

This deck is a focused Dimir tempo list commanded by Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow. The primary plan seeks to deploy a cheap, unblockable creature on Turn 1 and activate Yuriko's commander ninjutsu on Turn 2. Because commander ninjutsu is an activated ability, it bypasses both the commander tax and conventional spell counters. Once Yuriko connects in combat, her trigger draws cards while dealing direct damage to all three opponents equal to the revealed card's mana value. The deck maximizes this damage using high-mana-value cards that feature alternate casting costs, such as delve spells (Temporal Trespass, Dead Drop) and split cards (Commit // Memory, Rags // Riches). Topdeck manipulation spells like Brainstorm and Brainsurge ensure these high-cost cards sit atop the library during combat. A dense suite of efficient countermagic and cheap removal protects the engine, allowing the deck to close out the game table-wide by Turn 6.
