Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated mono-black reanimation strategy led by Balthor the Defiled. The primary game plan fills the graveyard quickly during turns 1 through 3 using self-mill and discard enablers like Stitcher's Supplier, Stinkweed Imp, and Buried Alive. Fast mana rituals and cost reducers accelerate deployment so Balthor the Defiled can enter and activate on turn 5. When Balthor exiles himself, he returns all black creatures from the graveyard simultaneously. This sudden mass resurrection triggers enter-the-battlefield abilities that wipe opposing creatures, strip opponent resources, and deliver massive drain through Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Massacre Wurm, and Ayara, First of Locthwain. Because the deck operates with minimal universal tutors and no protective countermagic, it relies on redundancy and explosive burst turns to overwhelm tables by turn 7.
