Deck overview

This deck is a focused Golgari Voltron strategy centered on Skullbriar, the Walking Grave. The primary plan deploys Skullbriar on Turn 2, leveraging its innate haste to begin accumulating +1/+1 counters immediately. The deck accelerates this growth through dense counter doublers like Branching Evolution, Hydra's Growth, and Corpsejack Menace, alongside keyword counters like trample, flying, and indestructible from cards like Scavenged Brawler and Daring Fiendbonder. Because Skullbriar retains all counters across zone changes, removal rarely resets your progress. The deck establishes a lethal commander threat by Turn 4 and methodically eliminates opponents one by one through Turn 6. While vulnerable to bounce spells and lacking stack interaction, its rapid deployment, exceptional resilience to board wipes, and strong explosive scaling make it a highly potent combat engine.
