Izzet Tempo by TaraSimplyExists

Format: Commander

Commander: Captain Howler, Sea Scourge

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck pilots a discard-centric tempo/aggro strategy under Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. Every looting spell, cycling card, and discard outlet feeds the commander's trigger, pumping a chosen creature with +2/+0 per card discarded and drawing a card on combat damage. The 99 is packed with cheap draw-discard spells, cycling lands, and a dense suite of free counterspells and instant-speed interaction. Primary wins come from commander damage (boosted by double strike from Raking Claws or Flaring Pain), growing evasive threats like Marauding Mako and Scrounging Skyray, or dropping a massive Octavia, Living Thesis or Yidaro, Wandering Monster via cycling. The deck controls the board with bounce and counters while churning through its library, aiming to land a quick, protected commander attack that snowballs into a kill.
