Deck overview

This mono-black Zombie tribal deck is commanded by Ghoulcaller Gisa, focusing on creating an overwhelming swarm of Zombie tokens to overwhelm opponents through combat and aristocrat drain. The strategy curves out efficient early Zombies and mana rocks, casting Gisa on Turn 5 to convert large creatures into token armies starting on Turn 6. Static lords such as Death Baron, Cemetery Reaper, and Undead Warchief grant power, toughness, deathtouch, and menace, while cards like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and Vengeful Dead punish opponents whenever Zombies enter or die. Asymmetric board control from Noxious Ghoul and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet locks down opposing creature boards. The deck features strong recursion to grind through long games, but it lacks fast mana, countermagic, and instant-speed protection, leaving its commander vulnerable to well-timed removal.
