Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari aristocrats control strategy commanded by Jenova, Ancient Calamity. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost mana acceleration alongside renewable creature generators such as Ophiomancer, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Awakening Zone. Jenova arrives on Turn 4, targeting these expendable creatures to distribute +1/+1 counters and designate them as Mutants. Sacrificing these Mutants to outlets like Viscera Seer or Ashnod's Altar converts their enhanced power into substantial bursts of card draw. This repeatable card flow rapidly digs through the 99 to establish oppressive board-control enchantments like Dictate of Erebos while assembling aristocrat drain engines. Games are concluded decisively either through an infinite lifedrain loop between Dina, Soul Steeper and Exquisite Blood, or through sweeping board attrition powered by Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Blood Artist, and Zulaport Cutthroat.
