Deck overview

This Golgari Aristocrats deck leverages Gorma, the Gullet to execute a resilient persist combo. Whenever a creature dies, Gorma places +1/+1 counters on entering nontoken creatures, which automatically cancel the -1/-1 counters placed by the persist mechanic. Pairing Gorma with low-cost persist creatures like Putrid Goblin and free sacrifice outlets such as Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder generates an infinite loop of death and enter-the-battlefield triggers as early as Turn 5. The deck converts these loops into game wins through Cauldron of Essence life drain, Woodfall Primus permanent wipes, or massive unblockable commander damage. Dense functional redundancy across persist creatures and sacrifice outlets provides strong consistency without relying on deterministic tutors. Meanwhile, attrition engines like Savra, Queen of the Golgari and Culling Ritual systematically clear opposing boards. While vulnerable to targeted graveyard hate and lacking stack countermagic, the deck recovers quickly through versatile reanimation spells.
