Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu cost-cheating aggro strategy spearheaded by Kaalia of the Vast. The primary game plan accelerates into a Turn 3 Kaalia using a dense package of 2-mana rocks and rituals, establishing combat readiness by Turn 4. Upon declaring an attack, Kaalia bypasses mana costs to cheat terrifying Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Master of Cruelties can eliminate an opponent instantly on Turn 4, while threats like Archfiend of Despair, Ancient Copper Dragon, Terror of the Peaks, and Balefire Dragon generate overwhelming combat damage and board dominance. Protection equipment such as Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots alongside Grand Abolisher shield Kaalia during critical combat steps. While heavily reliant on its commander, backup enablers like Sneak Attack and a suite of stax pieces such as Drana and Linvala and Deafening Silence maintain pressure against opposing strategies.
